As the tractor came down the hill too quickly and went through the ford, the surge of water flooded the magnets leaving it without power. Leaving his boots and socks on dry land, the farmer wades into the water and turns over the engine while a helper uses a land winch to get the tractor onto dry ground. Now the magnets can be removed and taken to the farmhouse to dry out.

The Nuffield 4/65 was the last of the Nuffield tractors, as it was rebranded the Leyland 384 in 1969. Here in its poppy and white livery before being swapped for two-tone blue. The title of the piece derives from the Ransome TRS-102 two furrow reversible plough the tractor is pulling.

When the 'last bout' of the grain crop is cut in the field as many as 20 or 30 rabbits may bolt for cover, providing welcome food for farm workers in the forties and fifties. Here a rabbit is seen bolting as the reaper binder makes the last cut.
