WE WILL BE HOLDING A "DESIGNER CALLS" DAY ON
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25th 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The idea behind Designer Calls Days is that a Moorcroft designer will create a special piece which will only be available for purchase on those days, and for a short, fixed period thereafter. For 2010, this fixed period will be fourteen days from the close of the event itself.

All designers tend to have their own signature style, and it is good for the designer to sit in a retailer’s store with a strong focus on a new design of their own. Signature pieces may feature, but for Designer Calls Days, our designers have a free hand and can produce something with which they feel comfortable. This is important, particularly when they have to field collectors’ questions and they are able to concentrate on their own special piece. Of course they will sign other pieces purchased on the day. That is something all collectors expect of a Moorcroft designer should a customer ask.

Anyone who has noticed the agility of our native blue tits will have marvelled at their ability to hang precariously on slim twigs searching for buds, berries and blossom. It depends on the time of year, of course, but The Acrobats by Paul Hilditch introduces a Moorcroft designer who is not bound by the rules of the four seasons. His blue tits feast on rich, succulent berries surrounded by delicate, pink blossom. The bright colours of the bird are familiar. It has an azure-blue crown with a dark blue line passing through the eye and encircling the white cheeks to the chin to give the blue tit a very distinctive appearance, enhanced by its yellowish back and sulphur-yellow underside. It matters not whether it is feeding on buds, berries or suet pudding put out by well-wishers to make the bird feel at home.

81/10 shape priced at £335.00.
